We’re bringing scientific rigor to the intimate wants, needs, and desires of female bodies. We proactively support the ongoing research, education, and public awareness of sexual wellness issues that female bodies face—as well as the pioneers and communities that offer solutions.
Who we are.
We’re a coalition of HCPs, researchers, and educators working together to prioritize and better understand female sexual health. The consortium is led by our Scientific Advisory Board.

Scientific Advisory Board
The Scientific Advisory Board for the Consortium for the Study of Women’s Sexual Wellness is made up of healthcare providers and scientists representing the world’s foremost leaders in female sexual health. They lend their expertise and insight to all current and planned programs at Vella.
Dr. Altman is Past-President of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health and Director of the Aspen Center for Women’s Health. He is a past Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics Gynecology and Reproductive Biology at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Clayton is the MD, Chair and Professor of Psychiatry & Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia, the former President of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health, and the current President of the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology.
Dr. Meston is a Professor in Clincal Psychology at the University of Texas-Austin, and the Director of the university’s Sexual Psychophysiology Laboratory. She is the former President of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health.
Dr. Pfaus is the Professor of Neuroscience and Psychology for the Department of Psychology and Life Sciences at Charles University in Prague. Additionally, he is a Researcher for the Czech National Institute of Mental Health, Klecany.
Dr. Simon is an active gynecologist, the former President of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health, and the North American Menopause Society, and the current Director for IntimMedicine Specialists.
Dr. Prause is a renowned neuroscientist, psychophysiological researcher, and statistician at the UCLA School of Medicine, as well as the current Director of Libros, Inc. She was previously associated with the Kinsey Institute.
Dr. Fodor is Past-President of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Past-President of the Lipoplasty Society of North America, and a Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery, UCLA.
Dr. Rosen serves as an adjunct Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and is the former Professor of Psychiatry and Associate Dean of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He is also the author of the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) and the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF).
Dr. Kingsberg is Chief of the OB/GYN Behavioral Medicine division at UH Cleveland Medical Center, Co-Director of the Sexual Medicine and Vulvovaginal Health Program at UH Cleveland Medical Center and a past president of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health and the North American Menopause Society.
Program Coordinator at San Diego Sexual Medicine where she serves as an AASECT certified sexuality educator and clinical research manager. She is immediate past president of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health
Director of Sexual Medicine at University of California San Diego, He is a past president of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health and of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America.
